Which album is your favorite that's now 50 years old (from 1975), and what's the best song on the album?

Kashmir: This song has one of the coolest drum times I have ever heard in a Rock song. There really was no one like John Bonham and if you try to play this drum beat you will need to do a lot of work to sound as good as John because it is much harder than it sounds. Definitely much harder than the old one/two beats you hear in speed/death metal bands.

So I guess I will throw out 5 of my favorites in no particular order.

This is way too hard to pick. There have been many great albums between then and now (but maybe not so much now lol).

How do you emotionally react to when others seem to feel sorry for you?

Now before all you prudes try to tell me this isn’t a rock album. My answer to that is bullshit. Duran Duran was much better than your standard one hit wonder 80’s pop bands. They had a lot more going on musically and I like them as a bass player because John Taylor is quite good, and in my opinion ranks up there with Geddy Lee and Les Claypool. When you listen to the title track of this album pay attention to his bass lines and you’ll see what I am talking about. And by the way he plays a 5 string which has always been my choice of instrument.

I know most people will tend to pick either Nirvana or Smashing Pumpkins for this era and of course I very much like those bands as well, but I think this album is my favorite of that time because to me it was just raw and powerful. Jerry Cantrell is one of the best and with him being the driving force combined with Layne Staley’s haunting voice Dirt stands up as one of the best albums ever in my opinion. My favorite part of the album is when the song Sickman ends and then it fades right in to the next track. A song I am sure many of you know.

Hello, I have a question about astral projection. I started to get interested in this a little while after my mum passed in april. I thought I may be able to see her and speak with her if I managed to achieve astral projection. Since this interest, every time i sleep on my back I go into sleep paralysis. However, I cant progress into astral projection because it is very scary for me as I feel like I'm suffocating when this happens. I panic and force myself to wake up. This only ever happened about once a year before this. It sometimes lasts a long time. This has happened about 3 times per week since my mum died, as mentioned on a previous post. I no longer try to go into it anymore(due to the suffocating feeling), but it still happens. I read that sleep paralysis is the pathway to astral projection. Why has this started to happen so frequently since simply taking an interest in it? Is this connected to the afterlife? I am concerned about it as I now cannot seem to stop this happening. Could it be my mum trying to communicate? Im asking due to more knowledge around this in this group.

Zeppelin was one of those bands that continued to evolve with each album. They were not content to be be just a hard rock band and do the same thing every album. They experimented with different sounds and different instruments. And this album features a couple of my favorites: In The Light. And this one:

Now unfortunately this band sort of got grouped in with Nickelback as being called “sell out music” or whatever moniker people choose to say when they hate something. However there is no debating the quality of their first album. The people in this band are great musicians and a lot of people don’t realize that after Creed disbanded for a while 3 of the 4 guys in Creed went on with Miles Kennedy to form Alter Bridge and no one ever called that band a “sell out.” Back to Creed this album talked a lot about personal demons which many of us can relate. We all carry some baggage around with us. Some of it we can leave on the side of the road but others run deep and I think this album helps us understand why. The title track is haunting and it still makes me think when I hear it.

Why do people hate on Serena (anime character)? What did she ever do to anyone except be a good friend to Ash Ketchum and an awesome trainer herself?

It is very difficult to find a decent rock album in today’s time because frankly younger guys are becoming increasingly effeminate and listening to pop songs all the time. Man up for real! And of course Rap and weird things are more popular than rock today unfortunately.(Like Beyoncé doing country music.). But there is hope. Greta Van Fleet has an amazing sound to them. And if you are one of those people who just want to call them “Led Zeppelin clones” you are being short sited. The singer sounds like Plant but the band is also unique in their own way because there is nothing today that really sounds like them. I would give these guys a listen to again without the preconceived notions and understand that with these guys there is hope for rock music. Here is my favorite song from this album:
